Hi, I am Ruby - Founder of Ekanta. Ekanta was born out of my love for colors and my aspiration to be financially independent. As a kid, I grew up seeing the men as the breadwinner of the family and women always in his shelter. Every time the woman of the family wanted money to spend for the family or for herself, it only came with a pinch of salt. Born and brought up in Salem in a conservative community where woman working was considered as taboo back then, I was persistent on the fact that as an adult, I would never be dependent on anyone whomsoever it may be. After marriage, I started Ekanta with an investment of 15,000 in my garage. Turning back to all the struggles everything seems to be fruitful as I connect the dots. Everybody in this journey has either lifted me or taught me something valuable. If there is one thing that kept me going despite all the odds then I would say it’s my passion for what I do and to live a life where my daughter learns that “woman too can”. How else can a mother set an example!80% of Ekanta's staff consists of super-talented women and our thambi's make up the rest 20%. All my colleagues spend the longest time of their day here at Ekanta, I feel it's a collective responsibility for all of us to make this place a happier place. I try and focus on holistic growth and to see them evolve as beautiful human being gives me a sense of fulfilment.
