Georgette is a sheer, lightweight, dull-finished crêpe fabric named after the early 20th century French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante. Originally made from silk, Georgette is made with highly twisted yarns. Its characteristic crinkly surface is created by alternating S- and Z-twist yarns in both warp and weft. Georgette has a very light and drapery hand, rendering it best suited to lose flowing garments. Silk georgette is relatively delicate; the crepe style S- and Z- twist weave makes the fabric springier. Georgette is a light, flowy fabric that is fairly breathable. which is a result of the tightly twisted yarns used in the weave. No matter what season it is, you can wear a Georgette saree in autumn, winter, spring and summer. The soft texture makes it delightful to wear and drape, particularly during the season of summer.
